Abstract

Cylindrical Roller Bearings (CRB) are subjected to dynamic loads rotating at high speeds causing fatigue, which demands high dynamic load capacity. The complexity of its internal geometry and the design constraints needs suitable optimization techniques. This article proposes a new approach to design optimization with minimal constraints. Optimal geometric parameters, such as bearing pitch diameter, mean roller diameter of the bearing, effective roller length, etc., offer 90% more high dynamic capacity than those in the catalogue of SKF rolling bearings. The method of approach followed here minimizes the computational time and improves the existing design. The adequacy of the optimized design is verified utilizing the MATLAB Genetic algorithm (GA).
