Abstract

This chapter explores the optimization of construction site layout and schedule through a simulation-driven approach, aiming to enhance productivity and reduce costs. The study highlights the limitations of traditional planning methods and introduces a sophisticated simulation model that captures the intricate movement of resources on a construction site. The case study focuses on a medium-sized residential construction project in Cairo, demonstrating the effectiveness of the simulation-based framework. The research investigates various scenarios, including different building groupings and prioritization strategies, to identify the most optimal site layout and schedule. The results reveal significant reductions in project duration and the number of resource collisions, ultimately leading to improved project efficiency. The chapter concludes with recommendations for further optimization and future research directions, emphasizing the potential of real-time data feedback and dynamic scheduling adjustments.
