Abstract

This chapter explores a groundbreaking method for simultaneous bi-directional structured light encoding, addressing the limitations of traditional methods that require extensive calibration and multiple acquisitions. By projecting combined sinusoidal patterns, the approach allows for the simultaneous recovery of horizontal and vertical phases, reducing the number of required images and enabling auto-calibration. The mathematical foundation of the method is rigorously investigated, leveraging the harmonic addition theorem to separate phase directions efficiently. The proposed technique demonstrates superior performance in both synthetic and real-world scenarios, offering a significant advancement in the field of 3D reconstruction.
