Abstract

The article discusses the optimal placement and sizing of DG resources and sectionalizing switches in distribution networks to minimize losses and enhance reliability. It introduces a novel method that considers environmental effects and uses a multilevel, time-dependent load model. The study employs a modified genetic algorithm to determine the best locations and sizes for DGs and switches, demonstrating significant improvements in network performance through various scenarios. The research highlights the importance of considering both load and generation variability and the environmental benefits of optimizing DG placement.
