Abstract

The article delves into the sintering of Bahariya iron ore using anthracite at the Egyptian Iron & Steel Company, aiming to optimize the replacement of coke fines with anthracite. The study reveals that anthracite, with its higher calorific value, can enhance the sintering process, leading to increased productivity and improved sinter quality. However, careful management of the specific heat input is crucial to maintain optimal FeO content and prevent detrimental effects on sinter properties. The research underscores the potential of anthracite as a viable alternative to coke in sintering processes, offering a cost-effective solution with significant benefits for the iron and steel industry.
