Abstract

This chapter expounds upon the concept of the ethical imagination, theorized through the following propositions: that aesthetic form has the potential for being inherently ethical; that images generate their own biovisual ethics; that ethics is an hermeneutics; that cinema essentially shows us other modes of being; that the ethical imagination is defined by openness, uncertainty, and opacity; and that the ethical imagination opposes practices of scopic entelechy.
