Abstract

The chapter introduces a new approach to optimize the fatigue performance of steel fibre reinforced concrete (SFRC) by incorporating a ductility index into SN curves. This index, based on the envelope concept, captures the fibre's effect on post-cracking tensile load-bearing capacities under static loading. The method allows for the theoretical optimization of fibre parameters, such as type, dosage, orientation, and bond behaviour, to enhance fatigue lifetime. The chapter details the mechanical basis of the ductility index and its application, demonstrating its practical value through an example. By integrating the ductility index into SN curves, this approach offers a more comprehensive and accurate assessment of SFRC's fatigue performance compared to traditional methods.
