This chapter examines the role of social entrepreneurship in disaster risk reduction, with a focus on India. It begins by defining social entrepreneurship and its evolution, highlighting the unique characteristics that set it apart from traditional entrepreneurship. The study identifies five key characteristics: social mandate, opportunity and innovation, interactions, sustainable and scalable economic model, and profit reinvestment.
