Abstract

The article discusses the challenges of predicting radio wave attenuation due to rain, particularly in frequencies above 10 GHz. It reviews existing mathematical, empirical, and experimental studies, highlighting the limitations of current models. The proposed solution leverages machine learning techniques, specifically soft clustering and regression analysis, to develop a more accurate and simpler model for calculating K and α coefficients. The model is validated through statistical analysis and comparative studies, demonstrating superior performance over the ITU-R rain attenuation model. The implementation of this model promises to enhance the prediction of rain fade in satellite and terrestrial microwave links, making it a valuable resource for researchers and engineers in the field.
