Modern vehicles have evolved into mobile IoT platforms. However, data generated there are not yet consistently used by OEMs to develop new car models and features. Traditional automakers do not lack vision; they see their future just as clearly as their disruptive competitors. Their struggle is to deploy the appropriate skills of their people, to use the right technologies, and to support the agility and speed demanded by the market. There is a lack of bridging the gap between IT and automotive technology. One example is that manufacturers are too slow in software engineering. Insisting on yesterday's hardware-oriented concepts does not work in support of tomorrow's software-defined vehicle. …
