Abstract

This chapter investigates the critical issue of soil erosion within the Ouaouizeght River Basin in Morocco, a region characterized by its rugged terrain and diverse climatic conditions. The study employs the Erosion Potential Method (EPM), a robust technique that integrates various factors such as soil type, slope, land cover, and climate conditions to estimate erosion risk. The EPM model, developed by Slobodan Gavrilović, has been extensively applied in regions with similar climatic and geological characteristics, making it a reliable tool for assessing soil erosion in the Ouaouizeght Basin. The chapter provides a detailed analysis of the basin's topography, climate, and land use patterns, which are crucial for understanding the erosion dynamics in the area. It highlights the significant role of human activities, such as deforestation and agricultural practices, in exacerbating soil erosion.
