Non structural actions for flood control have had a very consistent development in the last twenty years for many reasons and in particular: 1)the reliability of real time hydrological monitoring systems;2)the accuracy of flow and flood forecast by simple mathematical methods;3)the high cost and the high environment impact of the structural works for flood control.
