Abstract

This study delves into the spatiotemporal variations in precipitation across Shaanxi Province, China, highlighting the impact of climate change on regional precipitation patterns. By analyzing data from 35 meteorological stations over a 64-year period, the research employs the Anusplin spatial interpolation method and Mann–Kendall mutation test to explore precipitation trends. Key findings include significant regional differences in annual and seasonal precipitation, with the southern Shaanxi Mountains receiving the highest precipitation and the Shanbei Plateau the least. The study identifies mutation points in precipitation trends, particularly around 2012 and 2020, and discusses the implications of these changes for water resource management, agricultural production, and ecological environment governance. The research also examines the influence of topography and climate on precipitation distribution, providing valuable insights for coping with climate change in different topographic regions.
