The EU member states have now agreed in the European Council on a weakened position on emissions from passenger cars, light commercial vehicles, buses and trucks. The EU Commission's much stricter proposal was rejected. As automakers are in the process of transforming to electromobility, a "balance between stringent requirements for vehicle emissions and additional investments for the industry" is being advocated, according to the EU Council. "Our position is to continue the path of leading the mobility of the future and adopting realistic emissions levels for the vehicles of the next decade while helping our industry make the definitive leap towards clean cars in 2035", said Héctor Gómez Hernández, Spanish Minister of Industry, Trade and Tourism. …
