Abstract

The chapter delves into the optimization of plug shapes for the expansion drawing process, aiming to enhance the dimensional accuracy of square tubes manufactured from circular tubes. The study utilizes finite element analysis to investigate the influences of plug width, half-angle, and corner shape on wall thickness and dimensional accuracy. Experimental validation confirms the analysis, demonstrating the effectiveness of circle-square plugs in reducing local thinning and improving overall tube quality. The research highlights the importance of balancing plug dimensions to minimize defects and maximize precision in the manufacturing process.
