Abstract

The article delves into the stability analysis and optimal design of the ultimate slope of an open pit mine, focusing on the Shadan Open Pit Mine in Iran. It explores the challenges posed by increasing depth and slope angles in open pit mines and the need for robust slope designs to ensure safety and economic viability. The study employs numerical methods, including the finite difference method, to evaluate geometric parameters affecting slope stability. By analyzing different scenarios, the authors identify optimal slope designs that balance safety and cost-effectiveness, providing valuable insights for the mining industry.
