Abstract

This chaptere delves into the use of Alccofine, an advanced supplementary cementitious material, to stabilize soil prone to landslides. The study focuses on the engineering properties of soil treated with Alccofine, including compaction characteristics, plasticity index, and unconfined compression strength. It explores how the addition of Alccofine affects these properties and its potential to mitigate landslides in the Shirur highway region. The research also compares the weather conditions of Madikeri and Ankola, highlighting the similarities that contribute to landslide risks. The findings suggest that Alccofine can significantly enhance soil stability, reducing the susceptibility to volume changes and improving unconfined compression strength. The study concludes that Alccofine is a viable solution for stabilizing landslide-prone soils, offering a sustainable and environmentally friendly approach to disaster management.
