Zusammenfassung

Startups werden als ein wichtiger Beitrag zur wirtschaftlichen Entwicklung angesehen, da diese als Wachstumsmotor für die Wirtschaft verstanden werden und daher starken Einfluss auf die Entwicklung der (regionalen) Wirtschaft und (kommunalen) Politik haben. Im Zuge von Gründungsaktivitäten spielt der räumliche Kontext eine wichtige Rolle. Regionale Wachstumseffekte können durch Wissensschaffung, Wissensspillover und die regionale Konzentration von Fachkräften hervorgerufen werden, weshalb die räumliche Abhängigkeit für Gründende eine entscheidende Rolle spielt. Vor diesem Hintergrund haben nicht nur Großstädte, sondern auch Mittel- und Kleinstädte das Potenzial, sich aufgrund verschiedener Einflussfaktoren als erfolgreiche Technologiestandorte zu etablieren. Das Ziel dieses Artikels ist es, einen Überblick über die Akteure und gründungsrelevanten Faktoren eines Startup-Ökosystems zu geben. Darüber hinaus soll aufgezeigt werden, welche politische Relevanz Startup-Ökosysteme in der heutigen Zeit auch für kleinere Städte und Kommunen spielen.
