Abstract

This chapter examines the critical role of interlayer connections in two-layer beams, focusing on their impact on stresses, displacements, and overall structural reliability. The analysis builds upon existing research, emphasizing the importance of accurate slip modeling and the complexities involved in mathematical modeling of such systems. A novel two-dimensional model is introduced, which accounts for shear deformation without relying on the Euler–Bernoulli hypothesis, providing a more precise representation of beam behavior. The chapter presents a detailed approximation method using trigonometric Fourier series to solve for displacement functions, demonstrating its high accuracy and applicability to various support conditions. Numerical examples illustrate the method's effectiveness, showing how changes in shear stiffness affect displacements and internal forces. The results are validated against established solutions, confirming the model's accuracy and reliability. The chapter concludes by outlining future research directions, including the analysis of beams with different support types and dynamic problems, paving the way for a deeper understanding of interlayer connections in structural engineering.
