Abstract

This study investigates the spatiotemporal variability in rainfall patterns within the Bhadar basin over a 21-year period from 2000 to 2020. The analysis reveals distinct spatial variability in annual and seasonal rainfall, with the monsoon season contributing over 97% of the total rainfall. The study also examines the trends in rainfall using the Mann-Kendall test and Sen’s slope estimator, highlighting predominantly insignificant trends except for localized increases in post-monsoon rainfall at Manavadar and Kamadhiya. The results suggest that while rainfall patterns remain largely stable, minor upward trends in post-monsoon rainfall could benefit agricultural and water resource planning in specific regions. The study emphasizes the importance of long-term rainfall monitoring for capturing the full spectrum of rainfall variability and adapting water management policies to address potential future climatic variability.
