Abstract

The article delves into the intricate dynamics of surfactant-laden droplets within combined Couette–Poiseuille flow, a configuration that mimics practical microfluidic environments. It highlights how thermal and surfactant-induced Marangoni stresses influence droplet migration, revealing unique cross-stream migration behaviors and flow patterns. The study systematically varies flow parameters and dipole strength, demonstrating the potential for controlled droplet manipulation, which is crucial for applications such as drug delivery and single-cell analysis. The analysis of internal flow-field patterns and the impact of dipole orientation provides a deeper understanding of droplet dynamics, offering insights into optimizing microfluidic devices and enhancing biomedical research. The article also explores the significance of regulated volumetric flow rates, showcasing how constrained flow conditions can fine-tune droplet migration, a key factor in designing effective microfluidic systems.
