Abstract

The study investigates the correlation between neighborhood affluence and street surface condition (SSC) in Los Angeles using a dataset generated by automatic imaging techniques. It focuses on the relationship between SSC and financial measures such as median household income, median gross rent, and median housing price. The analysis reveals a surprising inverse correlation between housing price and SSC, suggesting that wealthier neighborhoods may have poorer street conditions. This article highlights the potential of modern data collection methods and AI in urban planning and decision-making, offering a fresh perspective on the visual and functional aspects of urban environments.
