Abstract

The study investigates the structural and optical properties of (1 − x)ZnMn2O4/xPbS nanocomposites, prepared using sol–gel and thermolysis methods. X-ray diffraction analysis reveals the presence of ZnMn2O4, PbS, and PbSO4 phases, with Pb ions occupying octahedral sites in the ZnMn2O4 lattice. Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy confirms the cation distribution and the formation of a solid solution. Optical properties, including bandgap, refractive index, and non-linear optical parameters, are significantly influenced by the addition of PbS. Photoluminescence analysis shows changes in emission peaks, indicating potential applications in photocatalytic and optoelectronic devices. The findings highlight the importance of PbS in tuning the properties of ZnMn2O4 for various technological applications.
