Abstract

The article delves into the urgent problem of neutralizing and disposing of arsenic-containing solid waste in nonferrous metallurgy, particularly focusing on the structure and solubility of arsenic sulfide cake and its alloys with sulfur. It highlights the significant environmental hazards posed by arsenic compounds in tailing dumps and metallurgical waste, emphasizing the need for effective waste management strategies. The study investigates the efficiency of heat treatment methods to convert arsenic into compact, low-toxicity forms, aiming to reduce its environmental impact. Experimental techniques, such as X-ray fluorescence analysis and X-ray phase analysis, are employed to analyze the composition and phase structure of the cake. The results demonstrate that alloying arsenic sulfide cake with elemental sulfur can significantly reduce its solubility, making it suitable for safe disposal. The article concludes with the potential for developing technologies that minimize arsenic supply to the hydrosphere, offering valuable insights for professionals in the field of waste management and environmental science.
