Abstract

The research assessed the effect of upper limb joints movement on brain activity, revealing their influence on cognitive processes. Electroencephalography technology showed variations in cognitive activity during left and right upper limb movements. Different cognitive patterns emerged, notably in the left and right limbs, with the shoulder joint showing pronounced patterns. The left cortex was more engaged during left limb actions, while the right cortex was more active during right limb movements. Hand and elbow joints had higher Event-Related Potential (ERP) levels, and shoulder joint had elevated Event-Related Spectral Perturbations. ERP levels differed between hand and elbow joints in right limb movements compared to shoulder and wrist joints in left limb movements, suggesting limb dominance may influence cognitive processes. These findings improve understanding of the human limb joints movement and have important implications for rehabilitation science.
