Abstract

This study delves into the deformation and failure characteristics of jointed surrounding rock in tunnels, focusing on the impact of structural planes and the effectiveness of support measures. The research employs a physical model composed of interlocking blocks to simulate the behavior of rock masses, providing a more accurate representation of real-world conditions. Key topics include the comparison of block models with continuum medium models, the analysis of displacement and failure mechanisms, and the evaluation of prestressed anchor rods as a support measure. The study concludes that the block model more closely resembles actual engineering practices and offers valuable insights into the stability and failure of jointed surrounding rock in tunnels. Additionally, the research highlights the importance of considering the distribution characteristics of structural planes in tunnel design and support strategies.
