Abstract

This study delves into the intricate relationship between time pressure, human error, and cognitive processing, with a particular focus on EEG characteristics. By recruiting 41 graduate students, the research team conducted experiments to analyze psychological behaviors and EEG data under time-stressed and no-pressure conditions. Participants were presented with colored words and required to respond quickly when there was a mismatch between word meaning and color. The study found that time pressure significantly increased stress levels and error rates, while also affecting response latencies. Neurophysiological analysis revealed distinct patterns in event-related potentials, with error positivity (Pe) amplitude showing robust condition-dependent modulation. The research also explored the correlation between personality traits within the Big Five personality model and their associations with EEG indicators, identifying which personalities are particularly sensitive to these indicators.
