Abstract

This chapter delves into the strength and durability characteristics of recycled aggregate concrete, focusing on its potential as a sustainable construction material. The study investigates the impact of partial replacement of cement with Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag (GGBS) and natural sand with robo sand on the mechanical and durability properties of recycled aggregate concrete. Key topics include the compressive strength, split tensile strength, flexural strength, acid attack resistance, and sorptivity of recycled aggregate concrete. The results indicate that while recycled aggregate concrete exhibits lower strength compared to natural aggregate concrete, the addition of GGBS and robo sand can significantly enhance its mechanical properties. The study also highlights the improved durability of recycled aggregate concrete, particularly in terms of acid resistance and sorptivity. The conclusions drawn from this research provide valuable insights into the potential of recycled aggregate concrete as a viable alternative to conventional concrete in construction.
