Abstract

This study delves into the structural behavior of modified hollow core precast concrete slabs, focusing on the impact of different void shapes and composite reinforcement systems. The research compares the performance of slabs with circular, oval, and elliptical voids, highlighting the superior load carrying capacity and reduced deformation of oval and elliptical void designs. Parametric studies reveal that increasing the depth of the slabs enhances their load carrying capacity, while the use of composite reinforcement systems significantly boosts structural performance. The study also explores various arrangements of composite reinforcement systems, identifying the optimal configuration for maximum load carrying capacity and impact resistance. Dynamic analysis further demonstrates the enhanced impact resistance of slabs reinforced with composite systems. The findings offer valuable insights for optimizing the design and construction of hollow core precast concrete slabs, making them more efficient and durable for use in multi-storey buildings.
