Abstract

This chapter explores the integration of renewable energy sources and wireless charging platforms to enhance the endurance and efficiency of UAVs in data collection from wireless sensor networks. The study focuses on the use of solar power as the primary energy source, supplemented by wireless power transfer (WPT) stations for recharging when solar energy is unavailable. The proposed model optimizes energy consumption through a decision-making module that evaluates battery levels and proximity to cluster heads and charging stations. Simulation results demonstrate the adaptability of the model under varying environmental conditions, such as wind speed, sensor density, and altitude. The chapter also compares the proposed model with existing UAV systems, highlighting its superior energy management and operational efficiency. The findings suggest that the proposed system offers a sustainable solution for prolonged UAV operations in wireless sensor networks, with potential applications in environmental monitoring, disaster management, and smart agriculture.
