Abstract

The chapter delves into the sustainable application of calcium carbide residue (CCR) as a soil stabilizer, a by-product of acetylene gas production traditionally considered waste. It discusses the chemical and physical properties of CCR and its potential to improve soil compaction, shear strength, and load-bearing capacity. The study evaluates the impact of various parameters such as CCR content, curing time, and environmental conditions on soil stabilization. It also highlights the economic and environmental advantages of using CCR, including reduced construction costs and minimized landfill waste. The chapter concludes by emphasizing the need for further research and the potential for CCR to be used in various applications, such as building materials, to promote sustainable development.
