Abstract

The article discusses the rapid population growth and industrial development contributing to freshwater contamination, particularly by dyes like malachite green (MG). MG is a cationic dye with severe environmental and health impacts. The study presents the synthesis of a novel triazine-based resin, ODA-TRIAZ, for MG removal. The resin was characterized using various techniques and showed high adsorption capacity due to its aromatic functions and amine groups. Response surface methodology was employed to optimize adsorption conditions, revealing favorable adsorption in basic medium and high adsorption capacity at higher initial dye concentrations. The pseudo-second-order kinetic model best described the adsorption process, indicating a favorable physisorption mechanism. The study concludes with thermodynamic analysis, confirming the spontaneous and favorable nature of MG adsorption onto ODA-TRIAZ.
