Abstract

The article discusses the synthesis and evaluation of a novel cationic graft copolymer, PVP-g-p(AM-co-DADMAC), as a flocculant for sugarcane juice clarification. The study explores the structure-property relationship of the copolymer, focusing on its flocculation efficiency and mechanism. The synthesis involves microwave-assisted grafting of AM and DADMAC onto a PVP backbone. The copolymer's performance is assessed through various physicochemical techniques and flocculation tests, revealing its superior flocculation efficiency compared to other flocculants. The findings highlight the synergistic role of charge neutralization and bridging mechanisms in enhancing flocculation, making this study a promising avenue for future research in industrial sugarcane juice clarification.
