Abstract

The article introduces targeted maximum likelihood estimation (TMLE) for causal inference in survival and competing risks analysis, highlighting its advantages over traditional Cox regression models. It emphasizes the use of continuous-time approaches to handle longer follow-up periods and complex data structures, and demonstrates the application of TMLE and super learning in a real-world dataset. The paper also discusses the theoretical properties of TMLE and super learning, and provides code and data analysis examples to illustrate the practical implementation of these methods.
