Abstract

This chapter delves into the critical technological aspects of military mobility support, emphasizing the need for dynamic and adaptive development within NATO to address the evolving European security landscape. The analysis highlights the internal and external factors that shape the technological means used to support troop mobility, particularly in NATO operations. Key internal factors include the obsolescence of current equipment and the challenges in procurement, while external threats such as unmanned aerial systems and cyber threats are also examined. The chapter identifies both weaknesses and strengths in the existing mobility support equipment, providing a comprehensive overview of the current state and future potential. It proposes a Military Mobility Technological Development Line, a conceptual framework designed to improve the overall operational capability of NATO forces. This framework focuses on cataloging essential equipment, identifying potential partnerships, and ensuring proportional modernization. By addressing these areas, the chapter aims to neutralize weaknesses and mitigate threats, ultimately enhancing the effectiveness of military mobility support in contemporary and future operational environments.
