The EU stipulates a commercial vehicles fleet reduction in CO 2 emissions. In view of the specified goals, one thing is clear: further reductions in CO 2 emissions cannot be achieved with just the powertrain. What is needed is a combined approach that includes a CO 2-optimized combustion engine, measures applying to the entire vehicle and an adapted fleet and zero-emission strategy. To take account of these aspects, IAV has developed a CO 2 technology roadmap for assessing the potential savings of various technologies within the overall context. …
