Abstract

The study investigates the temporal impact of elevated CO2 and temperature on Solanum lycopersicum L., commonly known as tomato plants. It focuses on various aspects including growth parameters, phenology, ultrastructure, nutritional quality, and metabolite profiles. The research aims to understand how these environmental factors influence the physiological processes and overall health of the plants. By conducting experiments in Open Top Chambers (OTC) with controlled CO2 levels and temperature, the study provides valuable insights into the potential challenges and adaptations of tomato plants under future climate scenarios. The findings include observations on seed germination, leaf development, and fruit quality, highlighting the complex interplay between CO2 enrichment and temperature increase. This research is crucial for developing climate-resilient tomato varieties and informing agricultural practices in a changing climate.
