Abstract

The chapter delves into the pressing issue of textile waste, highlighting the environmental impact and the need for innovative solutions. It introduces the concept of IoT-based wearable wireless-sensor-based textiles, specifically focusing on optical sensors for their advantages in detecting wear and tear, pilling, and fading. The framework proposed involves real-time data collection and analysis, enabling predictive maintenance and extending product lifespan. The use of cloud-based services and machine learning algorithms further enhances the system's capabilities, providing valuable insights and notifications for textile quality management. This approach not only promotes circular economy principles but also offers significant potential for reducing waste and enhancing sustainability in the textile industry.
