Abstract

The article presents a comprehensive study on the bifunctional electrocatalytic performance of NiMoO4/BP sheets for overall water splitting. The authors synthesized the composite using a one-step hydrothermal method, resulting in a material that exhibits outstanding efficiency and stability in both the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and oxygen evolution reaction (OER). The composite's excellent performance is attributed to the synergistic effect between NiMoO4 and black phosphorus (BP), which enhances the catalytic properties of the composite. The study includes detailed characterization using XRD, XPS, SEM, and TEM, as well as extensive electrochemical measurements to evaluate the catalytic performance. The NiMoO4/BP composite shows a low overpotential for both HER and OER, and maintains its stability even after 2000 cycles, making it a promising candidate for large-scale water splitting applications. The article concludes by highlighting the superior performance of NiMoO4/BP compared to other related materials, positioning it as a high-performance bifunctional electrocatalyst for water splitting.
