Abstract

The chapter delves into the intricacies of metallising thermosetting polymers via Low-Pressure Cold Spray (LPCS), highlighting the significant challenges posed by their brittle nature and high glass transition temperatures. Traditional methods, such as pre-treatments and buffer layers, are discussed, but the focus is on a novel approach: applying a thin epoxy resin layer to facilitate metal adhesion. Preliminary results show promise, with successful incorporation of Al-Zn particles under specific curing conditions. Further experiments are planned to optimise this method, offering a potentially eco-friendly and efficient alternative to conventional metallisation processes.
