Abstract

Aesthetics is an analytical reflection and understanding of creative arts and sometimes refers to the principles of a specific genre of art, style, or form. Studies on artistic expressions have been a part of Oriental and Western philosophy for a long time. Art practices across the globe have been influenced by aesthetics derived from ancient philosophies, as well as new notions of thought have helped artists create artworks relevant to modern and post-modern times. This paper discusses the evolution of aesthetics from its traditional forms to the new age forms due to the influences of globalisation, modernisation and technology. Through a critical study focusing on contemporary Indian sculptural practices, a sincere effort is taken to locate the changing notion of aesthetics and expressions in the current Indian sculptural trends.
