Abstract

This chapter investigates the intricate connections between human resource development (HRD) and innovation in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), emphasizing the role of population growth, economic security, economic freedom, and e-governance. It employs an econometric model to analyze time series data from 1975 to 2017, revealing significant correlations between these factors and HRD. The study highlights the importance of innovation and smart governance in enhancing HRD, providing policy recommendations to support the UAE's strategic vision for 2021. The research also examines the impact of Emiratization and renewable energy initiatives on reducing dependence on expatriate labor and oil revenue, offering a unique perspective on the country's economic diversification efforts.
