Abstract

The purpose of this chapter is to introduce the issues related to climate change and discuss the economic perspective of the problem. It then presents the options available for mitigating the problem, and the challenges encountered in their implementation. The chapter discusses the energy sector’s role in the entire debate and highlights the policy debates in both developing and developed countries.
