Abstract

The study investigates the effects of flooding stress on the growth, physiology, and biochemistry of cauliflower and cabbage, two economically significant Brassica species. It examines the impact of waterlogging on plant growth parameters such as leaf area, fresh and dry weight, and chlorophyll fluorescence. The research also delves into physiological responses, including relative water content, membrane damage, and proline and protein content. Additionally, it explores biochemical changes such as lipid peroxidation, hydrogen peroxide concentration, and the activity of antioxidant enzymes like superoxide dismutase, catalase, and peroxidase. The study aims to identify the most vulnerable harvest periods and compare the tolerance of these species to flooding stress, offering valuable insights for mitigating the negative impacts of waterlogging on crop productivity and quality.
