Abstract
The digital revolution has significantly altered the landscape of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) education, with e-books emerging as a pivotal tool. This article investigates how e-book applications, such as Epic!, can enhance reading motivation and proficiency among young EFL learners. The study employs a case study methodology, focusing on two participants to provide a comprehensive, contextualized exploration of their experiences with e-books. Key findings highlight the motivational benefits of interactive features like multimedia support, text-to-speech, and hypertext, which foster engagement and improve reading skills. The research also examines the role of intrinsic and extrinsic motivation in EFL learning, revealing how e-books can stimulate curiosity, choice, and self-efficacy. The article delves into the participants' journey, from initial exposure to the Epic! app to their increased motivation and reading proficiency over four months. It discusses the impact of features like personalized recommendations, reward systems, and quizzes on learner engagement and proficiency. The study concludes with implications for educators and policymakers, suggesting the integration of e-book apps into curricula to promote English reading literacy. Despite its limitations, the research offers valuable insights into the potential of e-books to transform EFL education and inspire lifelong reading habits.

Abstract
This case study explored the potential effects of integrating an e-book app on the reading motivation and comprehension of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) children with low reading proficiency. Over a period of four months, two fourth-grade students participated in the intervention, using the Epic! app for e-book reading twice a week. Data were collected through reading logs, observations, teachers’ field notes, and semi-structured interviews conducted before and after the intervention. The collected data were analyzed to identify changes in participants' reading motivation and proficiency over time. Findings suggested that the use of e-books positively influenced both participants' reading motivation and proficiency. Participants reported enjoying the app’s interactive features and showed an increased willingness to engage with more challenging texts. The results indicated that incorporating e-book technologies like Epic! was effective in enhancing reading motivation and proficiency among young EFL learners, offering valuable insights for educators and parents seeking to incorporate educational technologies to support young learners' literacy development.
