Abstract

This chapter examines the impact of delivery truck design on the physical workload of delivery workers, focusing on lumbar and posture strain during loading tasks. The study compares conventional, low-entry, and newly designed trucks, evaluating back flexion angles, compression forces at the L5/S1 disc, and overall working posture. The newly designed truck, which combines the advantages of conventional and low-entry trucks, significantly reduces back flexion angles and lumbar compression forces, leading to a lower physical workload. The analysis uses advanced motion capture technology and statistical methods to provide a comprehensive assessment of the ergonomic benefits of each truck design. The results indicate that the newly designed truck offers the most significant reduction in physical strain, making it a promising solution for improving worker health and safety in the logistics industry.
