Abstract

This paper tries to investigate the role of social entrepreneurship in addressing poverty within marginalized communities across the globe, aiming to map existing literature and also to discuss future research directions. Social entrepreneurship, is a fusion of entrepreneurial strategies and social goals, which offers innovative solutions to complex matters like poverty by developing sustainable models for economic development at large. This research explores how social enterprises emerged as a perfect solution to tackle poverty in marginalized communities where traditional methods often prove inadequate. The methodology employs a systematic review of academic literature, case studies, and reports to identify key themes, models, and outcomes of social entrepreneurship in poverty alleviation. Key findings from the literature reveal the effectiveness of social enterprises in providing financial inclusion, employment opportunities, and skills development, significantly enhancing the socio-economic status of marginalized populations. Nonetheless, challenges such as limited access to resources, inadequate policy support, and scalability issues persist. Future research should prioritize understanding the long-term impacts of social entrepreneurship, exploring the role of technology in scaling operations, and examining policy frameworks that can better support social ventures. By identifying gaps in current research and practice, this paper underscores the importance of fostering social entrepreneurship as a sustainable approach to alleviating poverty in marginalized communities.
