Abstract

This study delves into the effects of human movement on 2.4 GHz link quality in indoor settings, highlighting how different levels of activity impact signal propagation. Through extensive measurements and machine learning techniques, the research quantifies signal degradation caused by varying numbers of people and their movement levels. The findings reveal that signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and received signal strength (RSS) are significantly affected, with degradation ranging from 2.5 dB to over 10.5 dB depending on the scenario. The study introduces innovative methods using linear regression and clustering to calculate path loss (PL) for different movement levels, providing practical tools for improving indoor propagation models. By incorporating these findings, network planners can enhance the accuracy of signal predictions and overall network performance. The research also emphasizes the importance of considering human movement in future propagation models, offering a novel approach to addressing this often-overlooked factor.
