Abstract

The chapter delves into the critical role of work engagement in mediating the relationship between perceived organizational support and job performance in the service sector. It begins by emphasizing the importance of employees in achieving organizational goals and the unique challenges of managing employees in service sectors. The literature review explores the positive correlations between perceived organizational support and job performance, as well as the link between perceived organizational support and work engagement. The study hypothesizes and tests the mediating effect of work engagement on the relationship between perceived organizational support and job performance, using a robust methodology involving hierarchical multiple regression analysis and Sobel test. The results indicate significant positive correlations among the variables, underscoring the importance of organizational support and employee engagement in enhancing job performance. The chapter concludes with practical implications for managers and organizations seeking to improve employee performance and satisfaction.
