Abstract

The article delves into the significant mental health disparities faced by sexual minority women in the USA, highlighting the elevated risks of poor mental health compared to the general population. It focuses on the critical role of neighborhood deprivation as a structural determinant of health disparities, influenced by both material and social factors. The study also examines the modifying effects of minority stressors, such as stigma and discrimination, on the associations between neighborhood deprivation and mental health. The research is based on a community-based sample of sexual minority women, using a cross-sectional analysis to explore these complex relationships. The findings provide valuable insights into the structural factors influencing the wellbeing of sexual minority women, emphasizing the need for targeted interventions to address these disparities.
